The lovely people over at Lauren’s Way were kind enough to send me a pack of their new Dream Rollers for me to try out and see if I can get some volume into these limp, lifeless locks!
I am an avid straighter of my hair (I have the split ends to prove it) and I always feel quite uncomfortable if I havent had the time to iron all of the kinks out of my hair. If my hair is left to its own devices, it can all get a bit Diana Ross – so these pink rollers had a massive task on their hands!
The idea behind these rollers, is that you wear them while you sleep, so they are made of soft sponge, with a bit of pink velcro type stuff around the side to keep the roller in place.
How to use the Hair Rollers…
The instructions on the back of the packet are really simple:
Apply to dry hair before bed
I sectioned my hair into 6 sections, and then worked from the bottom section of my hair, near the nape of my neck, and worked up from there. I used my hair straighteners (see, completely obsessed) on each section of hair before rolling it up, as I wanted the heat to start to set the hair. I found that this got rid of any kinks and helped the curl ‘set’. I tried to be really careful with the ends of my hair so I didn’t get any mad spindly ends when it was all done!
Secure with grips if needed
This is the only gripe with the Dream Rollers – I wish they had provided some grips, or even a pink hairnet or something to help keep the rollers in place. The rollers do stay in place really well, the velcro really does grip well, however, if I was having a right good roll around in my sleep (oooh) I think i’d find a few rogue rollers in the bed. So yeah, I used a few kirby grips to keep them on my head overnight.
Wake up to big, beautiful hair
And I woke up with exactly that!
Except I forgot to take a photo as it was a work morning and I struggle to even make a cup of tea, never mind take a photo of my hair!
I did expect more of a curl to my hair, however, I dont think these rollers are for a ‘poodle perm’ kind of look. They are more for a voluminous, big hair at the root, going down to a gentle curl at the ends! Something that a big bouncy blow dry might give you – but without the aching arm and hot head.
I don’t think I would sleep in the rollers again, as I think I would get a better result if I put them in, in the morning, ready for a night out. They would be much more comfortable than sleeping in traditional, plastic rollers.
